Dressing Table Stool.
The Customers initial request was for the stool’s seat to be recovered and legs and frame to be repainted!
On inspection, it became apparent that the paint had been poorly applied and would need stripping rather than just sanding and re-painting.
During the stripping process I found that the legs were made from Mahogany and it would seem a sin to repaint as the customer had at first requested. Contact with the client confirmed that they would prefer polished wood rather than paint.
The paint was completely removed and the legs and upper frame were stained and given a coat of French Polish and bees’ wax.
The seat was re-upholstered using a traditional webbing base, cotton felt, calico and the top cover was secured with decorative nails.
